Girls Can Too Program
Program for young women looking to start a career in a non-traditional trade
Girls Can Too Program

Girls Can Too is running again for 2023! A program for female high school students to introduce them to non-traditional trades areas.

Girls Can Too! Is a joint venture between Squad, Training Services NSW, Wodonga TAFE and TAFE NSW. That is running again in Wagga Wagga, Griffith and Albury for 2023, throughout Term 2.

Our program is specifically designed to introduce female students to non-traditional trade areas where women represent less than 25% of workers. Our objective is to encourage and support these students to pursue further education and training or to commence a career in a non-traditional trade. Last year we saw 60 girls complete the program with many offered employment at the end of their schooling.

The objective of the program is to encourage and support female students to pursue further education and training or commence a career in a non-traditional trade. This could be though a School Based Apprenticeship, Full time Apprenticeship or Traineeship or through VET Training.

The program includes:

- Industry Tours
- Work Experience
- Supplied PPE
- Job Readiness Workshops
- In Trade Sessions for; Electrical, Construction, Automotive, and Engineering.

Girls Can Too is an excellent opportunity for female high school students to explore their interests and gain valuable experience in non-traditional trades. Follow along with program updates on Squad's social media channels, or contact us to receive a full calendar of events. We encourage the media to support the program and its participants by featuring these workshops and events.

I’d just like to thank you and all of the organisations/individuals for arranging this program. Although it has only been two weeks, she is having a fantastic time. She comes out in the afternoon with a bounce in her step, brimming with confidence, talking about everything she has learnt and wanting to show off her work for the day. I’m personally not in a position to arrange for any of the experience you have arranged, let alone all of them. She is looking forward to what is coming next, looking forward to every Friday.

Please pass on to the others that have helped organise this program how much if means to both of us.

This is a much better fit for her than other further education options there are available.
